Greetings!
The Louisiana Assistive Technology Access Network (LATAN) assists individuals of all ages with all disabilities achieve a higher quality of life and greater independence through increased access to Assistive Technology as part of their daily lives.
In its effort to reach as many individuals across Louisiana, LATAN has implemented this monthly electronic communication newsletter service to keep consumers, caregivers, educators, therapists, supporters and all Louisiana citizens informed of LATAN's programs, activities and services for individuals with disabilities. 
AT Device Demonstration Program

LATAN is pleased to announce that it has established an office in Shreveport, Louisianadesigned to offer AT consumers the opportunity to experience first- hand, all necessary devices that allow individuals to make informed decisions as to the type of assistive technology that will best suit their specific needs. Loans for Individuals with Disabilities
 Fixed-Rate, Reduced-Interest, Extended Term LoansLoan Program Photo
LATAN's Loan Program provides an alternative, affordable source of funding to assist people with disabilities or a family member purchase assistive technology through a special loan program. Amount of funding ranges from $500 to $50K. Devices and services covered include: computers with adaptative software or devices, the purchase of new and used vehicles, modifications to vehicles, adaptive driving controls, telecommunication devices for the deaf or speech impaired, wheelchairs, adaptive home modifications, prosthetics and/or orthotics. The Expo will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2008,8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., at the River Center located in downtown Baton Rouge, La. Day-long event is presented by WBRZ-TV and The Advocate. l Stop by and visit LATAN's booth for demonstrations on low vision devices, devices for people with hearing or speech impairements, high tech, low tech and equipment designed to increase independence and participation in community living, employment and school. 
The AT Marketplace - Your Connection to AT Devices
 
The AT Marketplace has devices for sale, or donation listed by category, price and device name.  LATAN Hires New Public Information OfficerMaria Yiannopoulos
LATAN is pleased to announce the hiring of Maria Yiannopoulos as its Public Information Officer. She is responsible for the dissemination of information regarding programs, events, activities, and services available for individuals with disabilities to achieve a a higher quality of life and greater independence.
