My Tobii P10 - Eye Gaze Cutting Edge Technology
LATAN is pleased to offer Louisianians
with
disabilities, the opportunity to experience
cutting edge Assistive Technology that
assists individuals living with a disability
to gain independence
at work, school and
community living.
This equipment is available at the Baton
Rouge office and it is procured through
funding received from State Appropriations
and donations.
My Tobii P10 uses a built-in
retinal scanning laser to read the movement
of the user's eye and project a "mouse
pointer". Wherever the user's eye rests is
where the My Tobii "clicks". For
people with
paralysis,
arthritis or cerebral palsy. The
My
Tobii features hands-free operation, a
touch screen and still allows for all normal
computer functions.

LATAN now has available the B.A. Bar
by Telsis S.A at the Baton
Rouge
and Shreveport, AT Device
Demonstration Centers. This hand-held unit
allows users to record messages on bar code
stickers and have the messages replayed out
loud!
No assembly required. Ready for service
straight from the box.
Recommended for individuals diagnosed
with Aphasia, Autism,
Alzheimer, the B.A.
Bar has
many uses including learning, fluency and may
also serve as a communication device.

Louisiana Geriatrics Society Conference |

The Louisiana Geriatrics Society
promotes high quality, comprehensive and
accessible care for Louisiana's older
population, including those who are
chronically ill and disabled. The organi-
zation's goals are to provide leadership to
health care professionals, policy makers and
the public by devel-
oping, implementing and advocating programs
in patient care, research, professional and
public education,
and public policy.
The conference will offer sessions on
"Elder Law Issues and Elder Law
Update," "Health Care and Minority
Elderly," "Coalition for Change:
Advancing Long-term Care Options in
Louisiana," are some of the topics to be

LATAN AT Financial Loan Program |

Need a Loan to Meet Your Assistive Technology Needs?
LATAN's Assistive Technology Financial
Loan Program is now available for
Louisiana residents who live with a
disability. It is designed to assist
individuals who may not qualify under
traditional loan programs to purchase
augmentative device communications, hearing
aids, vision aids, mobility devices such as
scooters, wheelchairs and prostheses), as
well as make vehicle and home modifications.
Individuals may borrow from $500 to $50,000.
The length of the loan depends upon the life
expectancy of the equipment. The current
interest rate is 6% for loans above $10,000
and 7% for loans below $10,000.
