The Louisiana Parent Training and Information Center (www.laptic.org) presents "Leap Preparation: Practical Tips to Coordinate with School Staff & Your Child."
When: Thu, January 14, 10am – 12pm
Where: Families Helping Families of Southwest Louisiana, 2927 Hodges St., Lake Charles, LA
LEAP time is stressful for students and school staff. Parents and school staff need to consider before hand what will be needed to support a student with a disability. As an IEP team member you asked for and got the accommodations your child needs in class, for typical tests, and for LEAP, LAA2, or GEE accountability testing. Someone unfamiliar with your child will likely be administering the test. How can you improve the chances that the accommodations on the IEP will be provided? We'll give you practical tips on who to communicate with at the school before LEAP testing time arrives, and how you and school staff can prepare yor child for changes in class schedules and other stressors that can impact how well the student does on the test.
