louisiana assistive technology access network
LATAN now offers a new service to assist with programming page sets for several different types of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices.
This service offers individuals the opportunity to customize their device, ultimately providing AAC users with the most authentic communication experience possible. Customizing page sets includes selecting specific button behaviors, programming commonly used phrases, and incorporating photos of family and friends.
Speech-generating devices come in all shapes and sizes, with many different modes of operation. These AAC devices can range from simple static systems with pre-recordable buttons, to complex dynamic devices that run speaking software on fully operational computer systems. No matter how simple or complex the device, setting up and programming these devices can be challenging and time-consuming.
