AT Device Demonstrations
Try out and learn about different assistive technology (AT) devices first-hand by participating in a device demonstration with one of our AT Specialists.
A device demonstration is a guided walk-through of an AT device(s), providing you with a hands-on experience with the devices. This program allows you to compare features of different devices, experience a device for the first time, and make informed decisions about the device(s) that are suitable to meet your specific needs before making a purchase.
Hands-on demonstrations can be scheduled onsite at our South Louisiana Demonstration Center, at your home, in a facility, or virtually.
Although we do not have locations in every region of the state, our devices and employees can travel to meet the needs of all Louisiana residents.
Our demonstration centers showcases a diverse selection of AT devices and equipment. We offer access to over 600 different devices from a variety of manufacturers. Our inventory includes, but is not limited to, the following categories: vision, hearing, speech, learning and sensory, mobility, aids for daily living and computer access technology.
Having a well-equipped Demonstration Center with such a large array of AT devices and equipment allows us to tailor a system of multiple devices specifically. We know your needs can be unique and complex, and we want our demonstrations to reflect that.

LATAN is a 501(c)(3) statewide nonprofit organization with the mission to help people of all ages with functional limitations or disabilities to gain greater independence at work, home, or school through the use of Assistive Technology(AT).
Payment Options: We accept Healthy Blue, LA Healthcare Connections, AmeriHealth, Caritas, Medicare, Private Pay and a Sliding Fee Scale is available.
Device Demonstrations and items available on the AT Marketplace are available at no charge. For other services, such as the availability of Hotspots and tablets, assistance via the AT Lease program or Device Loan is available.
Note: For low-income families, additional options for acquisition are available.
For these services and more, LATAN can assist with navigating or even, tailoring a program to meet individual needs as applicable to ensure access to technology.
Safety: As an accredited AT/DME provider, LATAN has PPE available and has been following OSHA, CDC, and Medicare guidelines for proper cleaning, disinfecting and sanitizing all devices on display in our Demo Center, as well as those available for borrowing and on the AT Marketplace. For individuals and families who are uncomfortable with face to face visits, services may be conducted virtually, and "some" devices may be shipped by mail.
